Using a Consultant should never be seen as a panacea.
The executives within a business will be the ones who are judged on its performance but what a Consultant can do is provide objective advice to aid decision making and possibly draw from a wider range of business experience.
In my various management roles within law firms I have welcomed and gained great value from the input of both Consultants and Non-Executive Directors alike, particularly in the business planning process but also in areas such as;
• Setting strategy for growth
• The evolution of management structures
• Improving financial performance
• Enhancing client service
• Delivering pro bono work and Corporate Social Responsibility
